MICROMERITICS Pulse Chemisorb 2700
In the field of supported catalysts characterization, this device allows the determination of accessible metallic surface through the measurement of metallic dispersion.
A calibrated injection loop (several volumes available, from 50µl to 5 ml) allows to send precise pulse volumes of active gas (CO, H2…) onto the sample whose metal is progressively saturated by chemisorption.
The gas quantity of a pulse that has not been adsorbed is detected by a TCD (thermal conductivity detector). It is thus possible to determine the total gas volume necessary to saturate the accessible metal.
If adsorption stoichiometry is known, the dispersion, defined as the ratio between this quantity and the total amount of metal on the support, can be calculated.
